Described as “"It’s a complex story with a lot of connections and plots tumbling over each other,” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, The New Yorkers, by Cathleen Shine, tells the wonderful story of how neighbors living in the Upper West Side of New York City can bond over something that they all love: dogs! Throughout Cathleen Schine’s novel, the characters are put in sticky situations, which eventually lead to them becoming closer as friends. Everett, who is my favorite character, is a middle-aged man who feels he will never be able to make a dog like him, until he meets Howdy, who changes his life. Cathleen Shine was able to create very intense moments in the story, which kept me wanting to read more and find out what happened next. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it mainly to dog lovers and owners.
